Hole 2

Hole 1

Ravelston Brae

Hole Description

Relatively straightforward opening hole. Best to drive to the right-hand side of the fairway. Big hitters can reach the brow of the hill allowing for a view of the green for their approach. Anything short of the brow, means a blind approach to the green.

The Dyke

Hole Description

Fortunately for the Ladies it's a par 4, but for the Gents it’s a tough par 3! Uphill to a plateau green, if you can reach the green and can putt a 3's a possibility. Most are pleased to walk off with a 4 and delighted if they get a 3!

Boraston

Hole Description

Slight dogleg right. Straight forward hole, either play to the ridge, which allows a shot down to the green or if you're confident you can clear the trees... go for it! But beware being stuck in the trees on the right or playing left as trouble awaits on both sides.

Hole 4

Clermiston Tower

Hole Description

Seems much longer than the yardage, probably because it's up hill all the way! Two bunkers either side of the fairway will catch any shots that are slightly off line and will make saving par very hard.

Mutton Hole

Hole Description

A nice short par 3! It should be easy... it is if you can hit the green! But play short and the bunkers will get you, long and you'll have a hard chip back up onto the green, right and there are more bunkers waiting, play left and who knows where the bounce will take you.

Quarry

Hole Description

Drive should be to the right side of the fairway... too far right and you're in trouble. Anything left and the chances are it'll roll with the slope into the rough, too far left and... you might never see it again!

Arbuckle

Hole Description

Another tricky one! If you can drive to the brow of the hill, then you'll get a view of the long narrow green. Ideally your approach shot should hit the green and be below the hole! If you can do that you might get a par

Bee's Bumps

Hole Description

Drive over the hill aiming slightly to the left, that way the slope will take the ball to middle of the fairway. Trees await any that are left or right! Approach to the green depends on how confident you are... if you can hit the green the ball should stop, most play short and hope the roll takes it on to the green. Too much roll however, will take you into the bunker at the back!

Braid

Hole Description

An uphill par 3, straightforward if you can hit the green, but watch out as the greenside bunkers can gather wayward shots. Check the hole position when walking down the 8th as it’s a two-tier green and if your ball's on the top and the hole's on the bottom, par will be hard to make!
